Another milestone for Ang Dating Daan: “Best Religious Program” award from Gawad Amerika Annual Award.
In less than two weeks after the popular religious program celebrated its 31st year anniversary it has once more obtained an international acclaim, this time from the same award-giving body that bestowed it the same honor in 2006.
Now on its 10th edition, Gawad Amerika Award recognized the program hosted by Bro Eli Soriano in a ceremony held last November 5, 2011 at Celebrity Center Foundation in Hollywood, California.

The Ang Dating Daan program, which is one of the longest-running shows on Philippine television, can now be seen on TV in India, Australia, the Middle East, Europe, Canada and the Americas. This was made possible when the program launched through Thaicom satellite last November 1, 2011, the show’s English-format program, The Old Path.
For viewers in the United States and Canada, the Galaxy 19 satellite delivers the program straight to viewers’ living rooms. From these television broadcast efforts, together with 24/7 webcasts, the humble program that sprang forth from the a bullhorn and a pulpit in Pampanga, Philippines has now reached intercontinental viewership.
Bro. Eli Soriano started preaching from town to town in Pampanga, Philippines in the 1970s. Wanting to bring the Gospel to a wider audience, he began preaching on radio. And the rest is – or to be more apt – the rest has made broadcast history.
“We hope, with the help of God, the brethren, and our countrymen, that the Ang Dating Daan will continue to air not only in the whole of the Philippines but with God’s mercy, in the whole world,” said Bro. Eli, whose preaching is today being translated in English, Spanish and Portuguese to name a few.
“Like what we always say, if we are able to do something, and if there is any glory attained, it is always for God – to God be the glory!,” added the international preacher.
Ang Dating Daan is Member Church of God International’s award-winning religious program whose title is based on the biblical verse Jeremiah 6:16. It acquired Gawad Amerika’s “Most Informative Religious Program” twice now – in 2006 and 2011.
Philippine Vice President Jejomar Binay was given the Lifetime Achievement Award while Ms Universe 4th Runner-up Venus Raj was awarded Most Recognized Achiever in the Universe. – Pauline Arellano
Members Church of God International (MCGI) is launching on October 31 a special anniversary website to commemorate the 31st anniversary of Ang Dating Daan television program, featuring an interactive timeline of the program’s history and the awards received by its host, Bro Eli Soriano.
The rich, experiential multimedia platform, which can be accessed at www.angdatingdaan.org/add31, was launched to coincide and accompany the special anniversary presentation aired by UNTV.
The interactive timeline allows online visitors to trace the humble beginnings of the Ang Dating Daan program as a 30-minute radio show through to its international broadcasts in the six continents of the world today.
Ang Dating Daan aired its first radio episode in 1980 with only three production staff, including Bro Eli Soriano as the program host. The then 16-year-old Daniel Razon, now one of the country’s veteran broadcast journalists, was director, cameraman and editor, while Sis Luz Cruz is makeup artist and researcher.
The program entered mainstream television in 1983 to accompany its radio programming. Due to Bro Eli’s unique style in preaching and his mastery of the Bible, he soon earned the admiration of radio host Manolo Favis who invited the preacher to become one of the panelists in his radio show. Soon, Bro Eli became the only mainstay resource person for the former’s radio program, Genius Family.
Ang Dating Daan’s foray in the Internet began in 1999 with the launch of http://www.angdatingdaan.org, which soon became one of the more popular online destinations for the curious Bible and religious researchers, and also for fans of Bro Eli Soriano’s debates with religious pastors.
AngDatingDaan.org is a six-time Most Popular Website of the Year, from 2002 to 2008, given by the Philippine Web Awards. In 2009, the same award was given to Bro. Eli Soriano’s Truth Blog, esoriano.wordpress.com. – Ryan G. Borja
